Intel Awards Best In Mobile, Business And Desktop PC Designs

ACER, Gateway, IBM, Legend, Panasonic, Samsung and Toshiba Receive Innovative PC Design Award

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept., 10, 2002 - Intel Corporation today announced the winners of the 2002 Intel Innovative PC Awards. With the largest field of entrants to date, the Intel Innovative PC Award recognizes innovation in best-of-class categories among Intel® Pentium® 4, Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 - M and Mobile Intel® Pentium® III - M processor-based consumer desktops, business desktops and mobile PCs.

At a ceremony held at the Intel Developer Forum, Fall 2002 (IDF), Louis Burns, vice president and co-general manager, Intel Desktop Platforms Group, presented Innovative PC Awards to the following systems: Acer TravelMate 100*, Gateway 700XL*, IBM ThinkPad X30*, Legend Tianqui 9220*, Legend Kaitan 6800*, Panasonic CF-R1 Let's Note Light*, Toshiba Portege 4010* and Samsung Sens P10*.

"Over the past few years, the Innovative PC Award program has grown in scope to include more diverse PC platform entries from worldwide participants," said Burns. "The Intel Pentium 4, Mobile Pentium 4 and Mobile Pentium III processor-based PCs recognized this year clearly take PC innovation to a new and exciting level."

As part of Intel's PC Ease of Use Initiative, the first innovative awards were given at IDF, Fall 1999 to recognize PC designs that measurably improve set-up, usability, expansion and maintenance. Through work with the industry and global PC manufacturers, Intel has expanded the award to include innovative design, new features and five distinct mobile sub-categories in addition to ease of use.

Acer TravelMate 100 (Slate / Tablet Mobile PC category)
The TravelMate 100 won the Slate/ Tablet mobile PC category. It is a convertible Tablet PC that integrates a user's natural and practical needs and revolutionizes the conventional way of using a mobile PC with the direct pen-input feature. Moreover, the embedded wireless and convertible panel make the TravelMate 100 a genuine mobile PC. A Mobile Intel Pentium III processor running at 700 megahertz (MHz) enhances this easy-to-use experience.

Gateway 700XL (Consumer Desktop Category)
The Gateway 700XL is a feature rich consumer desktop, offering cutting edge performance with all of the latest technology. All of this is powered by the Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 2.8 gigahertz (GHz). DVD-R, 18" LCD Flat Panel display and an optional five piece sound system with sub-woofer help make this machine a true multimedia powerhouse. A total of six USB ports give the user many connectivity options.

Legend Tianqui 9220 (Consumer Desktop Category)
The Legend Tianqui 9220 offers both tremendous power for consumer PC users as well as accessibility with many front access I/O options. The system features a unique, integrated monitor power cable -- just plug the main system in and the entire system is ready for use. Equipped with the Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 2.4 GHz, this system has the power for all of the latest consumer applications. Six total USB ports, four of those being USB 2.0 in the front panel, make connectivity a snap.

Legend Kaitan 6800 (Business Desktop Category)
Legend also won in the Business Desktop category. The Kaitan 6800 offers power and ease of use features in a small footprint desktop system backed by the Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 2.4 GHz. Wireless keyboard and mouse keeps the desktop free and clear of cables. Six total USB ports, four of those being USB 2.0 in the front panel, make connectivity a snap.

IBM ThinkPad X30 (Mini-notebook Mobile PC Category)
The IBM ThinkPad X30 is the winner of the mini-notebook category -- extra-light, extra small, and extra portable. The system is equipped with the Intel Mobile Pentium III processor running at 1.2 GHz. The X30 also features a tough but light titanium composite cover. As a mini-notebook, the ThinkPad X30 bridges the world of functionality and portability.

Toshiba Portege 4010 (Thin and Light Mobile PC Category)
With the new low voltage Intel Mobile Pentium III processor running at 933 MHz and featuring Enhanced Intel® Speed Step® technology, the Portege 4010 offers computing power while providing up to 7.6 hours with primary and optional Slim SelectBay* battery. Other SelectBay devices include DVD, CD-RW. A 1394 port enhances expandability and functionality.

Samsung SENS P10 (Full-size Notebook Mobile PC Category)
The Samsung SENS P10 is a full sized notebook mobile PC with style, class and innovative features. Equipped with the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 2.0 GHz, this notebook contains some very consumer friendly features such as closed-lid CD audio control with external viewable LCD (Audio DJ), MP3 capability, and alternative memory options such as memory stick.

Panasonic CF-R1 "Let's Note Light" (Sub-notebook Mobile PC Category)
The "Let's Note Light" is a compact yet powerful and stylish design. Powered by the Intel Mobile Pentium III processor running at 800 MHz, this ultra compact system is packed with features such as a 20 gigabyte (GB) hard disk drive and 128 megabyte (MB) RAM. This model is currently available in Japan.
