Intel Online Services Brings Second-Generation Web And Application Hosting To Europe

New $150 Million Internet Data Center in England Extends Global Reach of Data Services

READING, England, May 23, 2000 -- Intel Online Services, Inc., the Internet application hosting subsidiary of Intel Corporation, today announced it is offering its innovative Web and application hosting services in Europe with the opening of its $150 million Internet data center in England. Intel Online Services brings to Europe a unique approach to hosting, which integrates the management and monitoring of multiple complex technologies that are critical for the success of e-Business applications. This fully managed, "second-generation" approach can maximize Web site availability and performance and help companies in Europe gain a competitive advantage on the Internet.

Initial European customers are expected to include worldwide oil company BP Amoco; the English-language Web site for this year's Tour de France bicycle race; and Passcall, an innovative access and content provider which offers value-added services to wireless providers. In addition, Intel Online Services announced it is working with a number of leading e-Business solutions providers who develop Web solutions for European companies.

Fully Managed Application Hosting
Intel Online Services is focused on providing completely managed application hosting services that monitor and manage the complex array of software, hardware, network and infrastructure components that comprise a business Internet solution. Specifically, Intel Online Services offers the ability to have an e-Business application managed and monitored around the clock and enables developers to continue to enhance their designs. Intel Online Services also delivers aggressive applications-level service level agreements to customers, offering a 100 percent availability guarantee for fully managed applications and services.

England Data Center
Intel Online Services' 100,000 square foot data center near Reading, England, offers high-level physical and network security as well as redundant power, cooling and network connectivity. The facility also features an ultra-dense server environment that can accommodate up to 10,000 servers. As many as 250 people will be employed at the data center when the facility is fully built out.

Data Centers Worldwide
The new England data center is the latest in a global network of Intel Online Services data centers. In addition to its major facility in Reading, Intel Online Services has two data centers operating in the United States and one in Korea. Data centers in Japan and India are expected to be operational in the next few months. Intel Online Services expects to invest about $1 billion by the end of 2001 - mainly to build and equip data centers.
