New Intel Switches Add Breadth, Flexibility To Product Family
HILLSBORO, Ore., Aug. 31, 2000 - Intel Corporation today announced three new switches - the Intel® Express 530T, 535T and 420T - that broaden Intel's product line and increase flexibility and revenue opportunities for resellers. Intel also introduced a new cross-platform application for managing Intel's current line of Express 510T, 520T, 550T and 550F switches.
The Intel Express 530T and 535T Switches are scalable, Layer 2 devices that deliver up to 10.4 Gbps of dedicated bandwidth to expanding workgroups. The Intel Express 530T and 535T Switches consists of stackable units for easy scalability:
- The 530T, a managed "control" switch consisting of 22 10/100 Mbps ports and two optional Gigabit uplinks; and
- The 535T, a "member" switch with 24 10/100 Mbps ports.
Up to three member switches can be linked to one control switch, providing a total of 94 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiating ports of wire-speed, non-blocking performance in a stack. The switch stack can be configured and monitored remotely with Telnet, a Web browser or Intel® Device View, using a single IP address. Standards-based network intelligence features allow traffic prioritization and VLAN support.
The Intel Express 420T Switch is a high-density, standalone Layer 2 solution that provides increased productivity to desktop users interfacing to the local area network (LAN).
The Intel Express 420T Switch contains 48 10/100 Mbps ports, each delivering non-blocking, wire speed performance to multiple ports and users. The switch also contains two Gigabit uplinks (GBICs) with a selection of fiber modules that can be mixed and matched for network distance requirements. The 420T Switch supports traffic prioritization and flow control.
The Intel Express 530T and 535T Switches will be available for purchase Sept. 29 at the suggested U.S. list price of $1700 and $1330, respectively. The Express 420T Switch will be available for purchase Oct. 6 at the suggested U.S. list price of $2165.
The Intel® Express 500 Series Switch Device Manager is a new cross platform application for managing individual and stacked Express 510T, 520T, 550T and 550F switches. Built using Java* technology, the Device Manager is designed to operate standalone on any operating system, or integrate with HP OpenView Network Node Manager* for HP-UX* and Solaris*.
