Intel Press Release

Intel To Become First Company To Offer Advanced Internet Security Software From Network ICE With Its High Speed DSL Modem

Also Announces Equity Investment in Network ICE

HILLSBORO, Ore., March 30, 2000 - Intel Corporation today announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Network ICE Corporation, making Intel the first supplier of digital subscriber line (DSL) modems to help provide protection against security risks associated with an "always on" broadband Internet connection. Intel also announced today that its Intel Capital strategic investment program has made an equity investment in Network ICE.

The licensing agreement allows Intel to include Network ICE's intrusion detection and personal firewall software with its new Intel® PRO/DSL 3100 Modem and with other Intel products in the future. The software helps DSL customers monitor, block and trace unauthorized attempts by outsiders to gain access to their personal computers. Network ICE's software, BlackICE Defender, will be bundled with the Intel PRO/DSL 3100 Modem, which is currently in field trials with selected DSL service providers in North America and Europe.

Network ICE is a leader in the Internet security software industry and provides high quality software products and innovative technology for corporate and consumer customers.

The Intel® PRO/DSL 3100 Modem features a universal serial bus (USB) connection in a compact, self-powered design and provides residential and small business users with access to the Internet at speeds of up to 150 times faster than the fastest analog modems available today. Designed for use with standards-based ADSL services, this high-speed connection provides "always on" Internet access without the need to "dial up" in order to gain an Internet connection.

"Security is an important issue for DSL customers and small businesses that depend upon today's Internet economy," said Greg Lang, vice president and general manager, Intel Network Interface Division. "Intel's decision to bundle BlackICE Defender with our DSL modems and Intel Capital's equity investment in Network ICE both demonstrate that we're serious about helping to provide a more secure broadband Internet experience.

"Intel Capital's investment in Network ICE, and our OEM agreement to distribute BlackICE Defender, will be used to help solidify our market place leadership in the rapidly growing DSL and cable modem markets," said Greg Gilliom, chief executive officer, Network ICE Corporation. "Security is one of the limiting factors in the growth of broadband deployment and our relationship with Intel demonstrates that they view security as a priority for their broadband customer base."

Pricing and Availability
The Intel PRO/DSL 3100 Modem, with Network ICE intrusion detection and blocking software, will be available only through select DSL service providers beginning in June, 2000, at a U.S. suggested list price of $295.00.
