LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2000 -- At the 2000 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Intel Corporation today announced several new consumer products and technologies that support its vision for the e-Home. The new products include an Intel® PRO/DSL modem and the Intel® Play™ Me2Cam™ camera. Intel also announced its Web appliance strategy and plans to ship wireless Intel® AnyPoint™ Home Networking products in the spring of 2000.

At CES, Intel announced its new high-speed modem, the Intel PRO/DSL 3100 Modem, which provides users with digital subscriber line (DSL) access that is up to 150 times faster than the fastest analog modems and supports G.Lite and G.DMT DSL standards.

Intel announced the online availability and coming retail distribution of the Intel® Play™ Me2Cam™ Computer Video Camera with Fun Fair™ CD-ROM, a PC-enhanced toy that puts children into the computer game where the child's body movements control the game's action. In addition, the Intel® Play™ QX3™ Computer Microscope, the debut product from Mattel and Intel, is being showcased at the show.

Web Appliance
Intel also disclosed its strategy to deliver consumer Web appliance products. Intel's strategy is to provide three major components -- appliance management capabilities, service packages building blocks, and a family of Intel-branded Web appliances designed for accessing the Internet -- to telecom operators and service providers, who will offer them to consumers.

Car PCs and Sharing Pictures
Visteon Automotive Systems and Clarion Sales Corporation showcased in-car computing systems in the Intel booth (#4543). Both in-car computers are based on Intel extended temperature processors and chipsets. Intel also demonstrated GatherRound.comSM, a new imaging Web site that helps consumers use the Internet to share pictures and personal stories easily and quickly with family and friends.

The Latest in PCs
Intel and industrial designers have joined forces to create concept PCs to illustrate the possibilities and benefits of innovative designs using technology available today to make PCs easier to use. Intel showed off some of its latest concept PCs such as the Ottoman PC by SozoDesign, based on the Intel® Pentium® III processor. The Ottoman PC's dual function as a home system and a beautiful piece of furniture fits the family life of the 21st century.

Intel Demonstrates Solutions for Interactive Digital Television
In its booth, Intel demonstrated how it is helping to bring interactivity to new areas of the home through its work with the digital television (DTV) industry. DTV brings together video, audio and interactive data content, offering a more personalized and higher-quality experience to consumers. With the addition of interactive information to television, consumers can explore content in greater detail, choosing to learn more about topics that interest them.

Intel has worked with the digital television industry for many years providing key consumer research and technologies. Today, Intel demonstrated technologies and services from a number of companies providing new interactive solutions for viewing DTV content on a personal computer, including DTV-ready PCs, receiver boards, content and consumer information services. Companies demonstrating technologies included: BroadLogic Inc, Compaq Computer Corp, Creative Technology Ltd, Decisionmark Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co, Ravisent Technologies Inc and TeraLogic, Inc.
