Intel Announces Internet Exchange™ Architecture Development Center In People's Republic Of China

Center to Assist Chinese Networking and Telecommunications OEMs in Development of Solutions Based on the Intel® Internet Exchange™ Architecture

BEIJING, July 26, 2000 - Intel Corporation today announced a development center in Beijing, the People's Republic of China, to accelerate the development of networking and telecommunications solutions using the Intel® Internet Exchange™ architecture.

The Intel Internet Exchange Architecture Development Center will provide advanced engineering and technical support to customers developing and deploying Internet Exchange architecture solutions in the P.R.C. "The Internet Exchange Architecture Development Center is another clear demonstration of Intel's commitment to our Chinese networking and telecommunications OEMs," said Tom Franz, vice president and general manager of the Network Processing Group at Intel. "As the momentum towards solutions based on the Internet Exchange architecture increases in the P.R.C, the Intel Internet Exchange Architecture Development Center will not only provide project level support to our Internet Exchange architecture customers in the P.R.C, but will also help accelerate the deployment of their products to the marketplace."

The Internet Exchange Architecture Development Center is part of Intel's worldwide initiative to make Internet Exchange architecture the platform of choice for networking and telecommunications solutions that enable dynamic Internet services. Local networking OEMs will work with Intel engineers to enhance the OEM's hardware and software solutions based on the Internet Exchange architecture. Specifically, the teams will work to resolve technical issues, collaborate on joint development projects and effectively identify future customer needs and requirements.

The Internet Exchange Architecture Development Center will open in the fourth quarter of this year. It will be located within the Intel China Headquarters building in Beijing and staffed by Intel engineers.

Intel Internet Exchange Architecture The Internet Exchange architecture is a framework for designing powerful and flexible networking and telecommunications equipment using reprogrammable silicon. The Internet Exchange architecture allows systems designers to add network functionality quickly and cost effectively.
