Intel Establishes Massachusetts Development Center In Hudson
Initiative Will Add as Many as 250 New Area Jobs Over the Next Year
HUDSON, Mass., Oct. 8, 1999 - Intel Corporation today announced the establishment of the Massachusetts Development Center in Hudson. The Center, one of the diverse businesses located at Intel's Hudson campus, is the umbrella for three Intel centers of technological expertise located in Massachusetts: semiconductor products, network systems and software applications. It will serve as the regional focal point for the design of the company's most advanced products and technologies, such as the recently announced IXP1200 Network Processor, PCI Bridges, and StrongARM® software and systems. The Development Center will augment Intel's worldwide development activities in similar centers located in Arizona, California, Oregon, Texas, Israel and China.
The Development Center is one of several initiatives planned to further strengthen Intel's presence on the East Coast. It is expected to create up to 250 new Intel jobs for the region in a wide range of disciplines, including hardware development, software design, marketing and support functions.
"The Boston area has a heritage of innovation in high technology, particularly in the area of networking," said Mark Christensen, vice president and general manager of Intel's Network Communications Group. "This center is a critical part of Intel's plan to expand our global development activities. Its New England location will allow us to take advantage of the area's abundant resources and help attract and retain the engineering and design talent that is essential to the development of our leading edge products."
Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci commented, "I applaud Intel for choosing to locate this Development Center in Massachusetts. This decision is a testament to the value placed on our world-class universities and highly-educated and well-trained workforce."
