Intel® TeamStation™ System 4.0a Offers Greater ISDN Capabilities
Award-winning Product Features ISDN Performance at 384 KBps
HILLSBORO, Ore., Oct. 12, 1998 - Intel Corporation today introduced the Intel® TeamStation™ System 4.0a, the next generation of its award-winning conference room workstation that combines standards-based ISDN and LAN video conferencing, Internet access, corporate network access and PC applications in one convenient system.
The Intel TeamStation System 4.0a can now combine up to three ISDN lines for a transmission speed of 384 KBps -- bandwidth that contributes to improved audio and video conferencing quality. The TeamStation system also can be used for LAN video conferencing at speeds up to 800 KBps.
Scott Darling, general manager of the Intel Business Communication Products Operation, said the additional ISDN bandwidth further distinguishes the TeamStation system from expensive single-purpose video conferencing devices.
"Intel TeamStation System 4.0a offers businesses true flexibility, performance and value," Darling said. "It brings all the capabilities of a networked PC into the conference room and provides high-quality audio, video and data conferencing over both ISDN at 384 KBps and the LAN."
Intel TeamStation System 4.0a is available now at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $11,999 in North America and $12,999 in Europe. It includes a complete hardware and software suite for ISDN and LAN video and data conferencing, an Intel Pro/100 LAN Adapter, Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) technology, full-duplex audio speaker phone, built-in scan converter, wireless keyboard and mouse, and an auto-tracking, high-resolution camera with on-screen, near- and far-end camera control. In North America, the Intel TeamStation System 4.0a with a large, high-resolution, multimedia monitor is also available at an MSRP of $13,999.
Intel Drops Price of Previous Generation Product
The company also announced a $1,000 price reduction on the Intel TeamStation System 4.0, which delivers video at 128 KBps over ISDN or up to 800 KBps over LAN. The new MSRP is $8,999 in North America and $9,999 in Europe.
In September, the TeamStation system won the "Editor's Choice" award in a product review by Internet Telephony Magazine. It also received a "Blue Ribbon" award in a review published in the Sept. 21 edition of Network World.
Intel TeamStation System 4.0a and 4.0 are available in North America and Europe through computer product resellers. In North America, discounts of up to 30 percent off the MSRP are available for schools and universities, or to customers who trade in legacy ISDN-based group video conferencing systems.
