Intel Press Release

New Intel LANDesk Management Suite Web Console Enables Systems Management From Anywhere To Anywhere

LANDesk Management Suite Available for the First Time in French, German and Japanese

PARIS, Nov. 4, 1998 -- Intel Corporation today announced Intel LANDesk Management Suite 6.2 at the Networld + Interop trade show in Paris. This new version of the industry-leading systems management suite helps network administrators diagnose and resolve PC problems from a Web-based management console that can be launched from any system on their network with an Internet connection and a standard Web browser. Intel has also expanded the regional appeal of LANDesk Management Suite by making French, German and Japanese language versions available for the first time.

"Today's IT professionals are on the go, and they can't afford to go back to their offices to solve urgent problems," said David Rowe, director of marketing for Intel's Systems Management Division. "The new LANDesk Management Suite Web console gives them the freedom to access system information, perform diagnostics and resolve problems from any system on the LAN that has a Web browser and an Internet connection."

"With the new Web console, I can be in the field installing new systems and still respond to mission critical problems in real time," said Paul Casey, general manager of ISM GmbH in Germany. "I can launch the Web console from any system on the LAN and access the management database. From there I can view the screen of the problem PC, determine the cause of the problem and resolve it without having to go to that PC or back to my desk."

The addition of support for Windows* 98 in Intel LANDesk Management Suite 6.2 continues Intel's commitment to providing management solutions that meet real-world needs. Most businesses have complex networks composed of both new and legacy PCs and servers running a variety of operating systems. LANDesk Management Suite helps reduce the cost of supporting those heterogeneous environments by providing an integrated set of tools that IT administrators can use to diagnose and resolve problems with PCs and servers running on a broad range of operating systems. LANDesk Management Suite 6.2 is now capable of managing PCs and servers running Windows 98; DOS; Windows 3.1x; Windows 95; Windows NT* 3.51 and 4.0; and Novell Netware* 3.1x, 4.x and 5.0.

Intel LANDesk Management Suite is the flagship of Intel's LANDesk family of systems management products, which also includes LANDesk Client Manager and LANDesk Server Manager. LANDesk Management Suite can automatically recognize and deploy its agentry to PCs preconfigured with LANDesk Client Manager, which ships on business PCs from more than 30 PC OEMs.
