Intel® Create & Share™ Camera Pack Wraps New Software With Popular PC Camera For Holiday Season

Special Holiday Pricing Encourages Great Gift Ideas

CHANDLER, Ariz., Oct. 5, 1998 -- Just in time for holiday shopping, Intel Corporation is "stuffing" its popular Intel® Create & Share™ Camera Pack with new Web page and movie-building capabilities, video e-mail and motion-based camera games, along with existing favorites such as the Intel PC Camera, video phone, and e-mail postcards.

The Intel Create & Share Camera Pack, sporting a redesigned and easy-to-use interface, is a complete PC video package that includes an Intel PC Camera, a variety of Intel-developed, video-based entertainment and communication software and PC camera motion-based games -- all in one box.

"Suddenly your e-mail talks!" said Don Whiteside, general manager of Intel's Digital Imaging and Video Division. "With our Intel PC Camera and software, consumers will find that communicating visually by way of video-based electronic mail, or 'v-mail,' is just one of the exciting and wonderful ways for families and friends to keep in touch with each other."

Intel Create & Share Camera Pack Features
Complementing the Intel PC Camera, the Intel Create & Share Camera Pack Software includes a suite of applications that lets consumers use video and still images in fun and compelling ways, including:

  • Intel Video Phone - Make video phone calls over the Internet.
  • Intel Home Page Builder - Make home pages quickly and easily, incorporating streaming video, still images, sound and text.
  • Intel Movie Builder - Produce a digital movie by putting together video clips, still images, titles, transitions, narrative and more.
  • Intel E-mail Postcard - Personalize e-mail with video, still images and audio.
  • Intel Gallery - Organize and use videos, snapshots and more, quickly and easily.
  • PC Camera Games - Motion-based games let users have fun interacting with virtual balls, bubbles and more on the computer screen.

In addition, each Intel Create & Share Camera Pack includes a free, ready-to-mail "send to a friend" CD, with Intel Video Phone software that can be sent to another PC owner. This allows the camera pack user to "call a friend" and connect via video phone, providing the second user with audio and visual capabilities.

Special Holiday Promotion The Intel Create & Share Camera Pack is Windows* '98-ready and is offered in two PC versions: The Universal Serial Bus (USB) version has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $149 and provides simple installation into USB ports for newly purchased PCs; the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) version with an MSRP of $199 can be used for both existing and new PCs, and includes an Intel Video Capture Card feature which lets users take snapshots or record video from other sources such as VCRs or camcorders.

Intel has also announced a holiday promotion encouraging people to share the video phone experience by purchasing two or more packs. Through the holidays, consumers can receive a $70 rebate from the purchase of two and $25 from the purchase of one.
