SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 22, 1998 -- Intel Corporation today introduced the Intel® SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition, a new DVD solution targeted at Intel Product Dealers and system integrators. Combining the Intel SE440BX motherboard, Intel Express 3D graphics card and Zoran's* SoftDVD*, the Intel SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition enables VARs, system integrators and resellers in North America and Europe to offer a high-quality, low-cost DVD platform with the latest Intel technology and processors.

High-quality DVD Solution Helps Deliver Latest Pentium® II Platform Performance
Built to Intel's high quality and reliability standards, the Intel SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition was designed to provide a high-quality, low-cost DVD solution for resellers and system integrators designing and integrating Pentium® II processor-based systems for small business users and consumers. It includes Intel's SE440BX motherboard, the new 8-MB Intel Express 3D graphics card and Zoran's SoftDVD decoder, tested and validated as a platform to ensure compatibility and ease of integration.

The Intel SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition offers all the latest Intel platform technology, such as the fast 100-MHz bus of the 440BX AGPset and the powerful graphics acceleration of the Intel740™ graphics chip. Combined with the high performance of a 350- or 400-MHz Pentium II processor, this solution allows resellers and integrators to provide their customers with a powerful overall platform.

Host-based DVD on the Pentium II Processor Platform
The Intel SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition comes with Zoran's SoftDVD host-based DVD decoder, with support for MPEG-2 video and Dolby* Pro-Logic* surround sound audio. On today's Pentium II processor platform with the Intel Express 3D graphics card, software DVD decoders such as SoftDVD deliver affordable, high-quality DVD playback without requiring extra add-in cards, bringing much richer interactive applications and movies to a broader end-user base.

Pricing and Availability
The Intel SE440BX motherboard and Intel Express 3D are available today from Intel Product Dealers (IPD), distributors and system integrators worldwide. The Graphics/DVD Edition of the Intel SE440BX motherboard, featuring the Intel Express 3D graphics card and Zoran SoftDVD, will be available in July from IPDs, distributors, and integrators in North America and Europe. Second generation (2x) DVD-ROM drive must be purchased separately. Specific pricing will be set at the discretion of the individual dealer, distributor or integrator. However, Intel's estimated selling price for the Intel SE440BX motherboard - Graphics/DVD Edition is $314. The estimated selling price for a stand-alone Intel Express 3D 8-M graphics card is $99.
