Intel Delivers Video Voice Mail To The PC

Sending Video Messages Across International Time Zones Now Possible

HILLSBORO, Ore., February 3, 1997 -- Intel Corporation today introduced new video answering machine capabilities for PC users. The new Intel ProShare® Conferencing Plus Package enhances the Intel ProShare Conferencing Video System 200 with greater communication capabilities such as the video answering machine. This can be especially useful for global businesses where international time zones can hamper real-time business communications. Now, Intel ProShare videoconferencing users can leave video messages for each other in any location or time zone. Applications include a doctor leaving a video message for international experts to diagnose x-rays, or a claims adjuster forwarding a video message to the claims office about a damaged automobile.

"The new Intel ProShare Conferencing Plus Package goes beyond the standard telephone answering machine by adding video to voice mail," said Scott Darling, general manager, Intel Business Communications Operation. In addition to the video answering machine, the Intel ProShare Conferencing Plus Package adds features for recording and replaying video conferences. Users can keep a video record of vital meetings or video discussions. Additionally, the Intel ProShare Conferencing Plus Package supports full-screen video on Windows* ‘95*, and comes with an optional professional headset.

Intel's ProShare Conferencing Video System 200, the world's leading desktop videoconferencing solution, currently delivers multipoint video, audio and data conferencing through compliance with international standards, including the T.120 standard for sharing data with multiple conference participants and the H.320 standard for multipoint video and audio conferences. Intel ProShare Conferencing Systems continue to provide audio, video and data conferencing over ISDN phone lines and corporate intranets. All ProShare conferencing systems run on Windows '95 and Windows 3.1 operating systems.

The Intel ProShare Conferencing Plus Package is immediately available as an upgrade for current Intel ProShare Conferencing Video System 200 owners. The upgrade package, including software and the optional professional headset are available for $179.00 plus shipping and handling, and a software-only version of the Plus Package is available for $129.00 plus shipping and handling. The Plus Package is included at no additional charge in all Intel ProShare Conferencing Video System 200 systems purchased after January 15, 1997.
