Intel Names Its First Marketing Fellow

SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 7, 1997 -- Intel Corporation has named Dr. Ellen Konar an Intel Fellow, the company announced today. An Intel Fellow is the highest technical title awarded by the company.

Dr. Konar is the first person to be appointed an Intel Fellow from the company's Sales and Marketing organization and is the first woman within the company to achieve this rank. Dr. Konar joins 16 other Intel Fellows.

"In a rapidly growing and evolving global market place, Ellen has established the rising importance of research and analysis within Intel's product development and marketing efforts," said Dennis Carter, vice president and co-director of Intel's Sales and Marketing Group. "Her ability to create useful models of market segments in the personal computer industry, which is inherently difficult to measure and predict, has been very valuable to Intel."

Dr. Konar is currently the director of Worldwide Market Research.

Since joining Intel in 1991, she has established and evangelized worldwide market research for the company as one of the strategic inputs for product and marketing planning. Her group established a Worldwide PC Census Model for modeling market size, potential and risks. The group manages equity measurement of the "Intel Inside®" corporate brand and product brands such as the "Pentium® processor."

Dr. Konar has created industry-leading measurement capabilities for Intel marketing programs and product concepts.

Dr. Konar received her Ph.D. in Social/Organizational Psychology from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1981.
