Intel Boosts Port Availability for Express Stackable Hub

New Expansion Module Provides Cost-effective and Manageable Fast Ethernet Solution

HILLSBORO, Ore., October 15, 1996 — Intel today announced immediate availability for the Express Stackable Hub Expansion Module. The Fast Ethernet module enables customers to add 12 Fast Ethernet ports to their existing Express Stackable Hubs for a total of 24 100BASE-TX ports. The Expansion Module is another step in Intel's Fast Ethernet workgroup strategy to provide simple, cost-effective, high-bandwidth solutions that make the most of today's high-performance PCs based on Pentium® and Pentium Pro processors.

The new Expansion Module enables increased configuration flexibility and cost-effective management of a customers Fast Ethernet environment. By adding Expansion Modules to a stack of six Express Stackable Hubs, customers can now support up to 132 managed ports with one Network Management Module.

The Express Stackable Hub Expansion Module is priced at $1,995 (US suggested list); the Express Stackable Hub is priced at $2,375 and the Network Management Module is priced at $2,295.
