Two Senior Vice Presidents To Leave Intel

SANTA CLARA, Calif., October 30, 1996 -- Intel Corporation announced today that David L. House, sr. vice president of the Enterprise Server Group (ESG), and Carl Everett, sr. vice president and co-general manager of the Desktop Products Group (DPG) are leaving the company. Everett will manage the transition of DPG through the end of the year. In a separate announcement, Bay Networks, Inc. said that House has been elected CEO.

"Both Dave and Carl have made significant contributions to Intel during their long tenure," said Craig Barrett, chief operating officer. "For a long time, Dave has wanted to run a company and this opportunity was one he couldn't resist. Carl has felt the strong desire to spend more quality time with his family and feels this is a good time in his career to do so. We are grateful for their dedication, leadership and accomplishments in establishing the Intel architecture. They will be missed by all their friends and colleagues at Intel."

House joined Intel in 1974 and through his career at Intel has held various positions in the microprocessor product groups. Prior to his current role leading the Enterprise Server Group, House was responsible for Intel's microprocessors and related products for 12 years, during which time Intel introduced the 286, Intel386™, and Intel486™ family of microprocessors.

Everett has been with Intel for 18 years primarily in a sales and marketing capacity. In 1990 he was appointed vice president of Worldwide Sales and was instrumental in the introduction of the Pentium™ processor to the retail channel. Everett also oversaw the implementation of the Intel Inside™ program to the Company's OEM customers. He has spent the last two years as co-general manager of the Microprocessor Products Group and led the introduction of Intel's Pentium™ Pro processor.

House will be replaced by John H. F. Miner who joined the Company 13 years ago. He has been the vice president and general manager of Intel's OEM Products and Services Division for the past 4 years. Patrick P. Gelsinger, vice president, Internet and Communications Group, will replace Carl Everett as co-general manager of DPG along with Mike Aymar, currently Intel vice president. Gelsinger has led development efforts for Intel's 386, 486 and Pentium Pro processors. It will be recommended that Miner and Gelsinger be elected corporate vice presidents at the next meeting of Intel's board of directors.

The Company also said that the Corporate Marketing Group (CMG) will merge with the Sales Group to form Corporate Sales and Marketing, which will be co-directed by executive vice president Paul Otellini and vice president Dennis Carter. David Shrigley, who was vice president and co-director of CMG, will move to Intel's Content Group as vice president of Business Programs and Development. He will report to Ron Whittier, sr. vice president and general manager of the Content Group. Corporate Sales and Marketing, ESG, DPG and the Content Group will continue to report to Intel's executive office.
