Intel Lights up CES Keynote with New Intel® Shooting Star™ Mini Drones

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich turned his Consumer Electronics Show (CES) keynote into a stunning display of advanced technology. He surprised the audience with the first-ever indoor aerial display featuring 100 new Intel® Shooting Star™ Mini drones.

250 Drones Surprise and Delight Las Vegas Crowds

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) attendees — along with everyone on the Las Vegas Strip — were astounded by a choreographed, lighted display in the skies above the famous Bellagio Hotel fountain. Intel® Shooting Star™ drones and the fountain danced together to a soundtrack of musical favorites nightly throughout CES.

Wonder Woman Takes Flight

In collaboration with Warner Bros., our drone team flew 300 Intel® Shooting Star™ drones to celebrate the Wonder Woman home entertainment release. The result? A twinkling digital galaxy floating above the LA skyline. Every part of the show - from our all female drone crew to the custom formations featuring Wonder Woman’s iconic tiara and sword - paid tribute to the character that inspired millions.

Coachella, Meet Drones

Crowds at this year's Coachella* Music Festival were delighted by a surprise drone performance lighting up the desert sky. Intel worked tirelessly with HP and GoldenVoice* to put on this show for Weekend 1, making it the largest live audience to witness the Intel drone light show thus far.

Setting a Spectacular Record

Our purpose-built light show system – the Intel® Shooting Star™ drone fleet – set the Guinness World Record in 2016 for the Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) airborne simultaneously. Only a single laptop and one pilot were needed to achieve lift-off for 500 beautifully choreographed drones.

Drone 100 made its public debut during Vivid Sydney, as 100 illuminated drones performed a choreographed routine over the harbor – all while accompanied by the breathtaking sounds of the Sydney Youth Orchestra.2
