Operating systems Type of testing
Windows Server 2016* Compatibility and stress
Intel provides support for customers who have issues with the operating systems, involving installation or functionality of the server board. Support is provided, regardless if adapters and peripherals were tested under the operating system.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.2* with KVM (x64 and UEFI)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12* SP1 with Xen (x64)
Windows Server 2012* R2 with Hyper-V, x64, and EFI Basic installation and compatibility
Intel provides and tests operating system drivers for each of the server board–integrated controllers, provided the controller vendor has a driver available on request. Intel does not require vendors to develop drivers for operating systems they do not already support. Functionality of certain server board–integrated controllers can be limited.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6* Update 8 with KVM (x64 and UEFI)
VMware ESXi* 6.0 U1b1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11* SP4 with Xen (x64)

CentOS 7.2

Note 1 VMware* ESXi* requires a hardware Intel® RAID Controller for its installation. Installation on an Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology 2 or Intel® Rapid Storage Technology enterprise is not supported.
2 You may fail to install Windows* 7 on the Intel® Server Board S1200SP family because there is no USB 3.0 driver integrated in the operating system installation image. Refer to this document for a workaround.
