Why does the Quartus® Prime Programmer tool fail to program Infineon S25FL-S or S70FL01GS devices?

Environment

    Intel® Quartus® Prime Design Software
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

Because the Quartus® Prime Programmer tool does not support the specification of “CS# toggle with no CLK and Data is considered as non-valid” in Infineon S25FL-S family and S70FL01GS, the Quartus® Prime Programmer tool may fail to program a S25FL-S device or a S70FL01GS device.  JAM and JBC files generated with the Quartus® Prime Programmer tool are also affected.  The other supported configuration devices listed in the Device Configuration - Support Center are unaffected.

Resolution

To avoid the programming failure due to the specification of “CS# toggle with no CLK and Data is considered as non-valid” in the S25FL-S family and S70FL01GS, use one of the following resolutions.

  • Use a configuration device other than the S25FL-S family and S70FL01GS
  • Program an rpd file using a 3rd party programmer or your own solution that supports the specification of “CS# toggle with no CLK and Data is considered as non-valid”
