Platform Designer System Connectivity Warning/Error: Subordinate with readdatavalid must use waitrequest

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a change in the Platform Designer validation, starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 23.1, you might see the following connectivity warning/error message: “Subordinate with readdatavalid must use waitrequest” when including an IP with an Avalon® Memory-Mapped interface.

The lack of a “waitrequest” signal is a breach of the Avalon® Memory-Mapped specification and can lead to observed erroneous and undefined behavior within the Platform Designer interconnect.

    Resolution

For Intel® IPs: Make sure you follow the programming flow described in the IP user guide; the warning is safe to be ignored. The Intel® IPs affected are fixed starting in version 23.2 of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.

For custom IPs: Include the signal “waitrequest” to comply with the Avalon® Memory-Mapped interface specification.
