Why does the In-System Memory Content Editor display incorrect Instance ID?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.1 and earlier, you might see the Instance ID is displayed incorrectly as default "NONE" in the In-System Memory Content Editor (ISMCE).

    Resolution

    To work around this problem, follow these steps:

    1. Go to <Quartus_installed_directory>\ip\altera\sld\jtag\intel_mce\intel_mce_hw.tcl

    2. At line 111, change NODE_NAME type from NATURAL to STRING as the following:  add_parameter NODE_NAME STRING 0

    3. Regenerate HDL of related IP, recompile and reprogram the .sof file

    This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.2.
