Why is a JTAG ID code error issued during configuration or programming with a JAM or JBC file?

    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software vesion 22.3 and earlier, you might see the following JTAG ID code error during configuration or programming with JAM or JBC file.

    << Intel® Quartus® Prime Programmer Tool >>
    Error(209001): JTAG ID code specified in JEDEC STAPL Format File does not match any valid JTAG ID codes for device. Verify that the target device's location on the circuit board matches the device's location in the device chain.

    Info: Command: quartus_jli -a CONFIGURE example.jam
    Device #2 IDCODE is FFFFFFFF
    Device #1 IDCODE is FFFFFFFF
    Unrecognized device
    Exit code = 6... Unrecognized device

     

    Resolution

    To avoid this problem, use the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.4 or later.
