Why is the timestamp accuracy of Intel® Stratix® 10 1G/2.5G/5G/10G Multi-Rate Ethernet PHY Intel® FPGA IP with variant MGBASE-T PHY lower than the expected value?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • 1G 2.5G 5G 10G Multi-rate Ethernet PHY Intel® FPGA IP
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software Version 22.3, Intel® Stratix® 10 design with 1G/2.5G/5G/10G Multi-rate Ethernet PHY Intel® FPGA IP with variant MGBASE-T has a higher than expected Precision Time Protocol (PTP) timestamp accuracy value. Accuracy failure is observed when the speed selected is 2.5G and lower.

    Resolution

Currently there is no workaround. This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.
