Why is the RX_ITS - TX_ETS of 10GE Advanced Timestamp Accuracy Mode F-Tile Ethernet Intel® FPGA Hard IP hardware design example very high?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.2, 10GE Advanced Timestamp Accuracy Mode F-Tile Ethernet Intel® FPGA Hard IP hardware design example might report very high RX_ITS - TX_ETS value. You might also observe unit interval (UI) that deviates from the default value of 0x018D3019 by a large amount, e.g. 0x45 and 0x329CEE85. Not all instances might observe this problem in a multi-instance design example.

Applying a reset to the design does not resolve this problem. Design examples of Basic Timestamp Accuracy Mode and other Ethernet rates are not impacted by this problem.

    Resolution

To work around this problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.2, generate the 10GE with IEEE 1588 design example in Basic Timestamp Accuracy Mode.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Intel Quartus Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.3.
