Due to a problem when running CVP designs on the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.3, using the IP upgrade tool to auto-update the Reset Release Intel® FPGA IP may cause both the .qip and the .ip file of the same IP to be included in the Intel® Quartus® Settings File. This will produce the error shown below.
Error (19021): The same file name xx is used for different IP files. The same name cannot be used for more than one IP file. Only directly include the .ip file, not the .qip or .qsys.
The Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software inferred the .ip file counterpart from the .qip file to conduct the upgrade, which caused the addition of the .ip file, which collided with the .qip file.
To avoid this error, either:
- Do not upgrade the IP. Set the Regeneration Policy to "Never Regenerate ..." in the Intel® Quartus® Options. Or,
- Revert the QIP_FILE assignment to the IP_FILE assignment referencing the correct .ip file in the settings file. Do not have the .qip file and .ip file with the same name in the .qsf.
This problem was fixed in version 22.4 of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.
The Reset Release Intel® FPGA IP that caused this issue was an optional IP that did not require upgrading, which is why not upgrading this IP Upgrade will not have consequences.
