Why does the report page of the Power and Thermal Calculator display “810/VID” in the Voltage column for VCC when using an Intel® Agilex™ SmartVID device?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Power and Thermal Calculator of Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 20.4 and earlier, the report page incorrectly displays “810/VID” in the Voltage column for VCC when using an Intel® Agilex™ SmartVID device.
“810” portion of "810/VID" does not mean the Intel® Agilex™ SmartVID device operates at 810mV of VCC. The voltage of VCC is properly determined by the VID-fuse and temperature.

    Resolution

Ignore “810” portion of "810/VID" in the Voltage column for VCC on the report page of the Power and Thermal Calculator when using an Intel® Agilex™ SmartVID device.
This problem will be fixed in a future release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software.
