Why does a unique System ID value not automatically generated during the SOPC Builder System Generation?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Starting from Quartus® II version 10.1, users are required to enter a unique value of System ID in Decimal or Hexadecimal format.  For instance, you may enter a Decimal value such as 1234567890 or 0x499602D2 in Hexadecimal.

The System ID component parameter editor in SOPC Builder incorrectly states "A unique ID is assigned every time the system is generated". This text is scheduled to be removed in a future version of the Quartus II software.
