Why does the ALM count, in the Fitter Summary Report, change after I rerun the Fitter(Finalize) stage following a full compilation?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
    • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 17.1 Update 2 and earlier, the ALM count reported in the Fitter Summary report does not correctly reflect the  ALM resource count when the Fitter(Finalize) stage is run as part of a full compilation flow.

    The numbers reported are the pre-Finalize results which are unlikely to fully match the ALM figures after the Finalize stage.

    Resolution

    To obtain the correct ALM figures in the Fitter Summary, rerun the Fitter(Finalize) stage manually.
    This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Intel Quartus Prime Pro Edition software
