External Memory Interfaces Targeting Some Stratix V Devices Do Not Function Correctly in Hardware

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

    Critical Issue

    Description

This problem affects DDR2, DDR3, QDR II, RLDRAM II and RLDRAM 3 products.

External memory interfaces using pins in banks 7E or 8E of the following Stratix V devices will not function correctly in hardware:

    5SGXBB

    5SGXB9

    5SGXAB

    5SGXA9

    5SEEB

    5SEE9

The cause of this problem is that connections from levelling delay chains to I/O banks are swapped for banks 7E and 8E in the software model for the affected devices.

    Resolution

The workaround for this issue is to install the latest patch for your version.

This issue will be fixed in a future version.
