RP168 Feature in SDI II IP Core Fails for 3G After Switching

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

    Critical Issue

    Description

The RP168 feature in the Serial Digital Interface (SDI) II MegaCore function does not lose lock to the source when switching video source with the same format, standard, and rate. The RP168 may randomly fail if there is no alignment change after switching.

When there is no alignment change, the lock to the rx_trs_locked signal deasserts. This lock should remain asserted. When switching occurs, the 3G format receives the same alignment. This issue happens when switching different video sources with the 3G format, standard, and rate.

This issue affects designs using the 3G format in version 13.0 of the SDI II MegaCore function.

    Resolution

There is no workaround for this issue. To avoid this problem, switch to another 3G format with the same rate, and change the alignment.

This issue will be fixed in a future version of the SDI II MegaCore function.
