Scaler II, Deinterlacer II, and Broadcast Deinterlacer MIF Not Found For Simulation in All Compile-Time-Set Coefficient Modes

    Critical Issue

    Description

The Qsys simulator tool is unable to find the Memory Initiated Files (.mif) containing coefficient data for Bicubic and Polyphase modes of the Scaler II or algorithm coefficients for the Deinterlacer II and Broadcast Deinterlacer.

This problem does not prevent the Scaler II simulation from loading or running, but causes the output to remain at 0. This problem affects Scaler II designs targeting Bicubic and Polyphase modes, where the runtime load of coefficients is not enabled.

The Deinterlacer II and Broadcast Deinterlacer simulations will not run.

    Resolution

To work around this issue, follow these steps:

When generating the simulation model through the Qsys parameter editor, turn on the option to generate files for synthesis. When the generation is complete, copy the .mif files in the {Qsys system name}/synthesis/submodules folder to the following folders:

{Qsys system name}/simulation/mentor folder for Modelsim simulation

{Qsys system name}/simulation/cadence folder for Cadence tools

{Qsys system name}/simulation/aldec folder for Aldec tools

When the simulation build script is run, the tool will pick up the .mif files and include them in the simulation.
