Can I use the accumulator or adder components of the Stratix™ device digital signal processing (DSP) block without using the multiplier?

Environment

  • DSP
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description No.You must use the DSP block's adder and accumulator components in conjunction with the multiplier. To use the DSP block as an adder/accumulator, set one of the inputs to the multiplier to "1". However, using a DSP block for an adder will not have the same performance as an adder implemented in logic cells
