Why the SerialLite II (SLII) core failed to link up intermittently?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

You may experience the SLII core link up problem intermittently when using the SLII core in design.

It might be due to incorrect startup sequences of  SLII core. When there is only SLII core on the near end which is configured while the SLII core on the far end remain unconfigured, the near end receiver might be receiving some garbage data and corrupt the training process. Thus the link cannot be up.

Resolution

Please ensure that the reset signal is asserted only after the SLII core on the near end and far end devices are configured.

If you still encounter link up problem, please refer to the AN541: SerialLite II Hardware Debugging Guide for more details.
