Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Due to a problem in Arm® DS-5 Altera Edition, Eclipse may exit showing the error message above when run on some newer Linux distributions.
Resolution

To workaround this issue follow the steps below:

  1. Open the eclipse.ini file in your Arm DS-5 Eclipse installation in a text editor: <install path>/embedded/ds-5/sw/eclipse/eclipse.ini
  2. Add the following test the end of the file: -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.cairoGraphics=false
  3. Save and exit the file
  4. Re-launch Eclipse

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of Altera SoC EDS
