Why does Qsys or the Software Build Tools for Eclipse fail to launch when using Red Hat 6 or CentOS 6?

Description Qsys or the Software Build Tools (SBT) for Eclipse may fail to launch on Red Hat 6 or CentOS 6 Linux systems if the operating system is missing required libraries.
Resolution To avoid this problem, refer to the section Download and Installation Prerequisites in the Altera Software Installation and Licensing Manual (PDF). Install the libraries that are shown as required for Red Hat 6. These libraries are also required for CentOS 6.
