Can the Quartus II software wait for a floating IP license rather than switching to OpenCore or OpenCore Plus behavior?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

Yes, the Quartus® II software versions 9.1 and later can be configured to wait until a floating network IP license is available if all IP licenses are in use at compilation time.

To enable this behavior in the Quartus II software versions 9.1 and later follow the steps below:

  1. Open the License Setup Page from the Tools menu.
  2. Check the Wait for floating license checkbox.

The following warning message is generated if the compilation has been paused awaiting a valid license.

Warning: All instances of floating feature <feature ID> are currently in use, waiting for one to become available.

The compilation will resume once a valid license is available.

Default behavior in the Quartus II software

If an IP license is not available and the Wait for floating license option is disabled,  a warning will be issued stating there are no licenses available:

Warning: All floating licenses for core "<IP Name>" (<IP ID>) are currently in use

If the IP block supports OpenCore or OpenCore Plus mode, the compilation will continue in OpenCore or OpenCore Plus mode. The compilation will stop with an error if OpenCore or OpenCore Plus mode is not available for the IP block or if these modes have been manually disabled for the project.
