How do I program the factory default image into the flash device of my Nios Cyclone board or Nios Stratix board?

Please look at Appendix B to restore the Factory Configuration. You will need to use the recovery_configuration_cyclone_1c20.sof or recovery_configuration_stratix_1s10.sof file as mentioned on page 43.
