Current programming hardware does not support Active Serial Programming

Environment

Description

You may see the message "Current programming hardware does not support Active Serial Programming" if the ByteBlaster™ II programming cable that is to be used for Active Serial programming was not plugged in to the parallel port of your computer when the hardware was added in the Quartus® II programmer.

If no hardware is attached to your PC when the hardware is added in the Quartus II Programmer, the hardware is displayed as ByteBlaster in the Available hardware items window within the Hardware Setup dialog.

Note that Active Serial programming is not supported by the ByteBlaster MV programming cable.

Resolution

1) Ensure that the ByteBlaster II programing cable is plugged into the parallel port that is to be used. 
2) Remove any existing hardware that uses that port ini the Hardware Setup dialog by selecting the entry and pressing the Remove Hardware button.
3) Press the Add Hardware... button and enter the correct port for the ByteBlaster II programming cable.
