Why do I get the error: "Synplify mapping error -- al8d.c: 2636 Error: Assertion failed?" (Synplicity)

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description You may see this error in the Synplify software version 7.1 if you use an unsupported feature for a particular device.

For example, this error will appear if you target a Stratix device and use a CASCADE primitive in your design. The CASCADE primitive can be used in other Altera® device families (e.g., APEX devices), but is not supported in Stratix devices.

To eliminate the error message, modify your design so that it does not use the unsupported feature.
