The Compiler checks out a maxplus2 license when you are compiling a
design and checks it back in when the compile is completed, even if the Compiler
window is still open.
All the other software features check out a maxplus2 license when the window is
opened and return the license only when the window is closed, or when you have exited the software.
The VHDL and Verilog HDL license, if applicable, are checked out when the
maxplus2 license is checked even if you are not using VHDL or
Verilog HDL.
In addition to the above, when the MAX PLUS II software is launched on a UNIX workstation,
it checks out the altera_mainwin license. This license is returned when
the software is closed. Versions of the MAX PLUS II software that reside on Microsoft
Windows-based PCs do not use this feature and do not check out the altera_mainwin
license.
When the MAX PLUS II software is launched in command-line mode, it immediately checks
out a license: either a maxplus2 license on a PC, or both the maxplus2 and altera_mainwin licenses on a UNIX workstation.
