Why does Matlab crash with a "System Error" when I try to run alt_signaltap_run from the Quartus Standalone Programmer installation?

Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

Due to a problem with the Quartus® II software version 14.0, a required file is missing in the Standalone Programmer installation.

Resolution

On Windows, copy the file sld_mat.dll from the quartus/bin to qprogrammer/bin (for 32 bit installations) OR from quartus/bin64 to qprogrammer/bin64 (for 64 bit installations).

On Linux, copy the file libsld_mat.so from either the quartus/linux32 or quartus/linux64 directoy to the appropriate qprogrammer subdirectory.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future Quartus II software release.
