Error: Period is too small for this frequency

This error may be seen in Qsys version 13.0  for designs containing the Interval Timer Megacore when the counter size is set to 32 bits, with no start/stop, fixed period, and readable snapshot enabled.

This problem is currently scheduled to be fixed in the next release of the Quartus® II software.

To work around this problem in Qsys version 13.0 follow the steps below:

1. Open the .qsys file in text editor.

2. Search for "altera_avalon_timer" and update the version from 13.0.1 to 13.0.0.

If you are using 13.0, you can use the timer from Java model by changing the version of the timer to 13.0.0 from 13.0.1 manually in the Qsys file.
