Can an IOPLL be shared between an Altera LVDS transmitter SERDES and LVDS receiver SERDES in Arria 10 devices?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • PLL
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Yes. One IOPLL can be shared between an Altera® LVDS transmitter SERDES and LVDS receiver SERDES in Arria® 10 devices.

This does require the Altera LVDS SERDES IP to be in external PLL mode. If external PLL mode is not used, the PLL will not be mergeable due to the compensation mode difference between the transmitter and receiver.
