Why can't I connect to my EthernetBlaster II cable?

Environment

Description

Following an upgrade to the firmware package, EBII_FW_14_136.tar.gz, for the EthernetBlaster II cable, you may find that you are unable to connect to the cable from Quartus® II programmer.

If you have set a Quartus II remote connection password for the cable prior to upgrading the firmware or you set a remote password using the admin webpage after the firmware upgrade you will not be able to connect to the cable from Quartus II programmer.

This error does not affect IP connectivity so you will still receive a response to a ping to the cable.

Resolution

To remove the remote password for your cable, press the machine reset button which will return the cable to the default factory settings.  There are more details on the effects of machine reset in the EthernetBlaster II Communications Cable User Guide (PDF)

You will not be able to set a remote password with this version of the firmware.

This problem will be resolved in a future release of the EthernetBlaster II firmware.
