Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 13.0 and later, you may see the below error when you try to open any Quartus II feature that uses the Firefox browser on Ubuntu. The problem is due to a conflict of the libstdc library.

 

Error (23024): Unknown long option --32bit. Refer to --help for legal options<BR>  XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so:<BR>  &lt:Quartus II installation path&gt;/linux/libstdc .so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so)<BR>  Couldn't load XPCOM.

Resolution

To work around this problem, remove or rename the file <Quartus II installation directory>/linux/libstdc .so.6 and then make a symbolic link to the operating system libstdc lib.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
