Why does the Quartus II software crash when adding nodes to my SignalTap II File?

Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software for Linux version 12.0 SP1 and earlier, the Quartus II software may crash with a fatal error if you open a SignalTap™ II File (.stp) with an advanced trigger condition. The crash occurs when you try to add nodes using the Node Finder.
Resolution

To work around this problem, after opening the .stp, click on the Advanced Trigger 1 tab and then click again on the Setup tab. Nodes can now be added using the Node Finder as expected.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.0 SP2.
