Migrating to a New Version of the IP Compiler for PCI Express Requires Removal of _serdes.v or _serdes.vhd File

Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

Critical Issue

Description

To migrate your IP Compiler for PCI Express variation to a new version of the Quartus II software, you open the variation in the IP Compiler for PCI Express parameter editor and regenerate. However, this process might not migrate your transceiver configuration correctly.

To ensure that your IP Compiler for PCI Express instance migrates correctly to the new version of the Quartus II software, you should delete the various _serdes.v or _serdes.vhd files that were generated in the older version of the software, before you regenerate. This action forces the regeneration process to recreate the transceiver configuration settings in the new version of the software.

Resolution

To fix this issue, ensure that you remove the _serdes.v or _serdes.vhd file for your IP Compiler for PCI Express variation before you regenerate it in a new version of the Quartus II software.

This issue will be fixed in a future version of the IP Compiler for PCI Express.
