Why does the Intel® Agilex™ RSU fail to boot from the factory image after upgrading the factory image?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • Remote Update Intel® FPGA IP
    • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software versions 20.2 and 20.3,  the RSU factory image is corrupted after upgrading the factory image in the Intel® Agilex™ device.

    Note: This problem does not exist in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 20.1.

    Resolution

    There is no workaournd for the current issue due to the RSU Factory Upgrade feature is broken. This problem is scheduled to be fixed in the future version of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Editon Software.
