Why can't I create and HPS instance with qsys-script?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in the Quartus®  Software version 12.0 and later, if  the  following flow is used  to create a SoC system from a script,  it will fail  at the step "add_instance hps_0 altera_hps" without any message printing.

    qsys-script --script=create_ghrd_qsys.tcl

    Resolution

    To workaround this issue  install The Stratix® device package for Quartus II, which contains some common functionality required for supporting Cyclone V and Arria V SoC components.

    This issue is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
