Can two power supplies of the same voltage output be connected together to supply more current?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Power supplies cannot be connected in parallel since their power regulation is independent. One supply may try to increase the output voltage while the other supply may be trying to decrease the output voltage, due to differences in internal voltage reference between the supplies. In this case, both supplies will be "fighting" each other and create a situation where large current sourced by one supply will be sunk in the other supply.
