Installer subprocess for <Device family> exited abnormally. status code = 2

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II Web Edition software version 12.0 SP2, you may see this error message when installing the device libraries even if you have installed the Quartus II software successfully. You may also see the following error when trying to launch the Quartus II software:

Fatal Error: Int Divide By Zero

To work around this problem, perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall the Quartus II Web Edition software version 12.0 SP2.
2. Go to the Quartus II Web Edition Software webpage and download the installer program for the Quartus II Web Edition software version 12.0 SP2.
3. Run the installer program, but install only the Quartus II Web Edition software. Do not install the device libraries.
4. Download and install patch 2.05 for the Quartus II Web Edition software version 12.0 SP2 from the appropriate links below:
   • Download the version 12.0 SP2 patch 2.05 for Windows (.exe)
   • Download the version 12.0 SP2 patch 2.05 for Linux (.tar)
   • Download the Readme for the Quartus II software version 12.0 SP2 patch 2.05 (.txt)
5. After installing patch 2.05, re-run the installer program to install the device libraries.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.1.
